A Yogi in the Wilderness

Many of you know that my husband Wade, @intrepid_daily has his own site www.intrepiddaily.com where he shares tips, reviews, and stories about his adventures and living life to the fullest everyday.  He also has some pretty great gear reviews like this review about the Cotopaxi Volta Rolltop.  I get to travel with him most of the time on our short camping, hiking, and outdoor excursions and thought I would share some of my favorite brands and pieces for such adventures.  Wade and I have had quite a bit of adventure this year and have lots more ahead and here are some of the pieces that I will and always take with me!

Cotopaxi

  • Luzon 18L Day Pack – Wade and I bought 2 of these daypacks a year ago to take with us on hikes.  It has quickly become my go-to for anything that involves traveling distance, short hikes, long hikes, biking, camping, or just to throw my yoga clothes in for practice.  I love that it has a hydration pouch and that we could each get fun and bright colors.  The lightweight ripstop nylon dries fast even when I’m sweaty from being outside all day in the heat and humidity.  It’s also easily packable into larger pieces for travel.  DSC_0160
  • Cusco 26L Backpack – This is the backpack I took to India and put all my carry-on items in.  I also took it on day trips around India.  I like it because it has great support, lots of pockets & can be used for all kinds of adventures.  The material is thicker than the Luzon so I didn’t worry about it tearing or ripping while I was traveling.
  • T-shirts – I’m also a huge fan of their t-shirts and have several.  They are super soft and comfy and work well for day hikes, travel, and sometimes I just wear them with jeans out with Wade cause they are so comfy!

  • Boma 13L Daypack – the other pack I love for short hikes, bike rides, and general purpose is my beautiful bright blue Boma daypack, it’s small but big enough it works great for a short hike, it even has a laptop sleeve that fits my computer so I have taken it on road trips or traveling when I am packing light! And I LOVE the color!  It’s also the right size for me to still climb and yoga all over the place.

If you want some cool sunglasses for your adventures look no further, not only are these sunnies reasonably priced, but they come in a variety of colors, styles & designs!  I pretty much don’t leave home without mine and have super fun and colorful ones and more earthy ones for whatever mood I’m in.  I even have Shark Week sunnies!

Prana

Most of my outdoor gear clothes are prana from awesome hiking pants and shorts to lightweight jackets.  But not only do they create great outdoor gear but half of my work wardrobe is Prana!  I love their super comfortable and stretchy materials for work, play, yoga, and just hanging out!  I even got a swim suit this year which I love because it’s super versatile and comfy, even hiked a bit in just my suit while we were exploring lakes in Kentucky!

Keens

My favorite hiking shoes!  I have several pairs of Keens because I just think they are wonderful my Palisades hiking boots are what I wear out on the trails most often and for longer hikes.  But if I know we are going to be near water (and I don’t always know) I might switch to my Newports or my Whisper sandals.  Both of these sandals I have taken on extended abroad adventures and they always perform, most recently I took my Whisper sandals with me to India when I went there for a month and wore them on more strenuous excursions like our weekend trips which you can read about here!

  1. Can’t go wrong with Cotopaxi! We’ve almost never had a problem with them, and the few times we’ve had, our interactions with the company have been exceptionally pleasant!

      1. I love that no matter which style I get whether it’s hiking shoes or water friendly shoes, travelling shoes I’m never disappointed. They have always served me well!
